1 recall on the 2016 Winnebago Scorpion

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

NHTSA 16V719000
The defect
Winnebago Towable (Winnebago) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Winnebago Winnie Drop, Micro Minnie, Minnie, Minnie Plus, Spyder, Scorpion, Destination, Instinct, and Voyage travel trailers manufactured November 9, 2015, to September 6, 2016. The weight label on the affected vehicles incorrectly states the fresh water capacity in gallons when it should be stated in pounds.
The risk
The incorrect information may cause the trailer to be overloaded, possibly resulting in a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Winnebago will notify owners, and dealers will replace the incorrect weight labels with corrected labels, free of charge. The recall began on January 19, 2017. Owners may contact Winnebago owner relations at 1-574-825-5250 extension 5220.

Complaints are owner reports, not verified defects, and a popular model collects more of them than a rare one. They show what to ask about, not what is certain to fail.

Checking your own RV

A recall applies to a range of VINs, not to every 2016 Winnebago Scorpion built. To confirm whether yours is affected, find the 17-character VIN, on a plate near the entry door, inside a cabinet, or on the trailer tongue for a towable, and enter it in NHTSA's official lookup.

Repairs for safety recalls are free and never expire. A dealer cannot charge you, and cannot refuse on the grounds that the RV is old or out of warranty. If one does, call the NHTSA hotline on 1-888-327-4236.
