What this recall covers

The defect
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2026 Spirit travel trailers. The installed safety chains may not meet the actual Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) listed on the Federal Placard. This can cause the chains to fail, allowing the trailer to separate from the tow vehicle.
The risk
Separation of the trailer and tow vehicle increases the risk of a crash.
The fix
Dealers will replace the safety chains, free of charge. All vehicles are still in dealer inventory and therefore no owner notification letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8519. Forest River's number for this recall is 220-1941.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 25V423000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
