What this recall covers
- The defect
- Lance Camper Manufacturing. Corp. (Lance Camper) is recalling certain 2018 Lance Travel Trailers equipped with adjustable utility receivers sold as optional or aftermarket equipment. The receivers may have insufficient welds and, as a result, things connected to the receiver such as a bicycle rack may not be properly positioned.
- The risk
- If components such as a bicycle rack are not properly supported, they may contact the road, possibly resulting in road debris, increasing the risk of a crash.
- The fix
- Lance Camper has notified owners, and the owners will be refunded for their purchase once the receiver is returned. As an option, customers may instead get a bike rack that goes on the front of the travel trailer, free of charge. The recall began on May 26, 2017. Owners may contact Lance Camper customer service at 1-661-949-3322.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is my vehicle affected?
Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 17V407000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.
Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
