What this recall covers

The defect
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2016-2017 XLR ToyHauler recreational trailers, models XLT23KW and WZXLT23KW. These vehicles were built with axle equalizers that are too long.
The risk
An equalizer that is too short in length may cause a failure of the equalizer and/or axle springs, resulting in a possible loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install the correct equalizers, free of charge. The recall began on June 28, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-05312017-0415.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 17V366000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
