NHTSA Campaign 17V306000

TIRES

Filed by Forest River, Inc..

NHTSA campaign 17V306000 covers 1 vehicle and concerns the tires. The repair is free.

What this recall covers

The defect
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017 XLR ToyHauler trailers, model XLT26HFS. The Federal Placard incorrectly states that the rear tire pressure should be 50psi, when the tires should actually be inflated to 80psi. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The risk
The incorrect information may cause the operator to underinflate the tire, potentially causing tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on May 31, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-05032017-0398.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 17V306000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
