What this recall covers
- The defect
- Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2017 XLR recreational trailers, models XLF413AMP, XLF422AMP, WZXLF422AMP and XLF380AMP, manufactured September 29, 2016, to November 8, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an incorrect Federal Placard that does not indicate that the vehicle has a third axle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
- The risk
- If the Federal Placard is missing the correct axle information, the operator may overload the trailer, causing a loss of a vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
- The fix
- Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-642-0432. Forest River's number for this recall is 45-11122016-0272.

Is my vehicle affected?
Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 16V846000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.
Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
