What this recall covers
- The defect
- Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Riverstone Legacy fifth wheel recreational trailers manufactured October 7, 2016, to October 18, 2016. The spare tire and rim combination on the affected vehicles may be incompatible with the disk-brake hubs, preventing the rim from mounting flat and flush to the hub face.
- The risk
- If an owner installs the spare wheel that was provided with the trailer, the lug nuts may fail, allowing the wheel to detach, increasing the risk of a crash.
- The fix
- Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will replace the spare rim and tire assembly, free of charge. The recall began on December 20, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-367-3269. Forest River's number for this recall is 70-10312016-0263.
- Notes
- Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is my vehicle affected?
Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 16V811000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.
Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
