EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Filed by Zero Motorcycles Inc..

NHTSA campaign 16V610000 covers 3 vehicles and concerns the exterior lighting. The repair is free.

What this recall covers

The defect
Zero Motorcycles Inc. (Zero) is recalling certain model year 2015 SR, S, DS, and FX motorcycles. The affected motorcycles have a DC-DC converter that may have insufficient output power. During high power demand, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) may not function properly.
The risk
If the converter power output is insufficient, during an ABS activated event, the ABS and all vehicle lights would temporarily stop functioning, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Zero has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the DC-DC converters, replacing ones of a specific type as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on September 16, 2016. Owners may contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085. Zero's number for this recall is SV-ZMC-016-356.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 16V610000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
