PARKING BRAKE

Filed by Forest River, Inc..

NHTSA campaign 15V742000 covers 1 vehicle and concerns the parking brake. The repair is free.

What this recall covers

The defect
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain model year 2016 Coachmen Mirada motorhomes, model MDA31FWF, manufactured August 21, 2015, to October 2, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the parking brake actuator may be out of calibration causing the parking brake system to not properly hold the vehicle even with the parking brake pedal fully depressed. Additionally, the parking brake may not disengage completely when the parking brake pedal is released.
The risk
If the parking brake does not fully engage, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash. A parking brake that drags may result in a wheel end fire.
The fix
Forest River will notify owners, and Ford dealers will replace the parking brake foot pedal pedal assembly, free of charge. The recall began on December 9, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-293-1581. Forest River's number for this recall is 310-10282015-0103.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 15V742000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
