What this recall covers

The defect
Dutchmen is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Aspen Trail, Coleman, and Dutchmen recreational vehicles manufactured from October 4, 2011, through October 01, 2012. These vehicles may have been manufactured without an exterior vent for the furnace.
The risk
Without proper exhaust ventilation, the vehicle can fill with carbon monoxide resulting in asphyxiation. The heat build-up may also increase the risk of a fire.
The fix
Dutchmen will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, as necessary, install an exterior vent, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2012. Owners may contact Dutchmen at 1-574-537-0700.

Is my vehicle affected?

Being on this list means your year, make and model fall inside campaign 12V529000. It does not mean your individual vehicle does: a campaign covers a range of VINs built in a specific window, and vehicles either side of that window are untouched.

Check the 17-character VIN from the driver-side dashboard or door jamb against NHTSA's lookup. If it is covered, the dealer must do the work free of charge, regardless of the vehicle's age or mileage.
