4 recalls on the 2023 Airstream Atlas

EQUIPMENT:OTHER:LABELS

NHTSA 23V772000
The defect
Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Interstate 19, Interstate 24, Interstate 24X, Rangeline and Atlas motorhomes. The Federal Certification Label and Tire Placard may indicate incorrect tire pressure and tire size. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."
The risk
Incorrect tire information can result in under-inflated tires or installing the incorrect-size tires, increasing the risk of a crash.
The fix
Airstream will mail corrected labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 15, 2023. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:ACCESSORY GENERATOR

NHTSA 24V314000
The defect
Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Atlas motorhomes. The generator may have been installed without a heat shield, which can expose the subflooring to excessive heat.
The risk
Flooring material exposed to heat increases the risk of fire and injury.
The fix
Dealers will install the heat shield above the generator, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 6, 2024. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at [email protected], 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-611 ext. 7401.

Reported March 5, 2024 by Airstream, Inc.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

NHTSA 23V327000
The defect
Airstream, Inc (Airstream) is recalling certain 2023 Atlas motorhomes. The 16-gauge branch wires may be under protected by a 20-amp fuse, which could allow the wiring to overheat in the event of a short circuit.
The risk
Wiring that overheats can increase the risk of a fire.
The fix
Dealers will replace the 20-amp fuse with a 5-amp fuse, and install a new circuit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 29, 2023. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

Reported May 5, 2023 by Airstream, Inc.

EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:OVEN/STOVE/COOKTOP

NHTSA 23V134000
The defect
Airstream Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Basecamp, Bambi, Atlas, and Interstate travel trailers, equipped with certain SDS2 2-Burner Drop-in Cooktops. The internal aluminum burner tubes that connect to the gas valves may fracture and cause a gas leak.
The risk
A gas leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
The fix
Dealers will install a regulator support bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 29, 2023. Owners may contact Airstream Customer Service at 877-596-6111 (Travel Trailer ext. 7491) or (Touring Coach ext. 7401).

Checking your own RV

A recall applies to a range of VINs, not to every 2023 Airstream Atlas built. To confirm whether yours is affected, find the 17-character VIN, on a plate near the entry door, inside a cabinet, or on the trailer tongue for a towable, and enter it in NHTSA's official lookup.

Repairs for safety recalls are free and never expire. A dealer cannot charge you, and cannot refuse on the grounds that the RV is old or out of warranty. If one does, call the NHTSA hotline on 1-888-327-4236.
