TRAILER HITCHES:FIFTH WHEEL ASSEMBLY

NHTSA 16V587000
The defect
Outdoors RV Manufacturing (ORV) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Glacier Peak fifth-wheel travel trailers. The affected trailers have a pin box that may flex resulting in metal fatigue and possibly the separation of the fifth-wheel trailer from the tow vehicle.
The risk
If the fifth-wheel separates from the tow vehicle there would be an increased risk of a crash.
The fix
ORV has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the pin box, reinforcing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 26, 2016. Owners may contact ORV customer service at 1-541-962-1866 extension 222. ORV's number for this recall is 2016-001.

Checking your own RV

A recall applies to a range of VINs, not to every 2017 Outdoors Rv Glacier Peak built. To confirm whether yours is affected, find the 17-character VIN, on a plate near the entry door, inside a cabinet, or on the trailer tongue for a towable, and enter it in NHTSA's official lookup.

Repairs for safety recalls are free and never expire. A dealer cannot charge you, and cannot refuse on the grounds that the RV is old or out of warranty. If one does, call the NHTSA hotline on 1-888-327-4236.
