1 recall on the 2015 Harley-Davidson Fls Softail

EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL

NHTSA 14V725000
The defect
Harley-Davidson Motor Company (Harley-Davidson) is recalling certain model year 2014-2015 FLS Softail motorcycles manufactured March 25, 2013, to October 2, 2014. The affected vehicles may have been manufactured without lamp-outage detection for the front turn signals. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk
Without the turn signal lamp outage indicator, the rider may not be aware that a front turn signal is not working. And without working front turn signals, there is an increased risk of a crash.
The fix
Harley-Davidson will notify owners, and dealers will correct the body control module software, free of charge. The recall began November 24, 2014. Owners may contact Harley-Davidson customer service at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's number for this recall is 0618.

Checking your own motorcycle

A recall applies to a range of VINs, not to every 2015 Harley-Davidson Fls Softail built. To confirm whether yours is affected, find the 17-character VIN, stamped on the steering head, just behind the headlight, and on the frame label, and enter it in NHTSA's official lookup.

Repairs for safety recalls are free and never expire. A dealer cannot charge you, and cannot refuse on the grounds that the motorcycle is old or out of warranty. If one does, call the NHTSA hotline on 1-888-327-4236.
