1 recall on the 2014 Ktm 690 Enduro R
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:PEDALS AND LINKAGES
NHTSA 14V305000- The defect
- KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain model year 2014 690 Enduro R motorcycles manufactured October 2013 to April 2014. In the affected motorcycles, the rear brake pedal mounting bolt may loosen, allowing the rear brake pedal to detach from the motorcycle.
- The risk
- If the rear brake pedal detaches, the rider would only have the front brake to slow or stop the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- The fix
- KTM will notify owners, and dealers will install and properly torque, a washer and new rear brake pedal mounting bolt with threadlocker, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090.

Checking your own motorcycle
A recall applies to a range of VINs, not to every 2014 Ktm 690 Enduro R built. To confirm whether yours is affected, find the 17-character VIN, stamped on the steering head, just behind the headlight, and on the frame label, and enter it in NHTSA's official lookup.
Repairs for safety recalls are free and never expire. A dealer cannot charge you, and cannot refuse on the grounds that the motorcycle is old or out of warranty. If one does, call the NHTSA hotline on 1-888-327-4236.
